Yup…there are days when the couch looks a little too inviting and that workout plan seems like a big ask. But moving doesn’t have to mean full-blown sweat sessions. Here are some super low-key, low-effort ways to get going when motivation has faded away – like it always does!
Tip 1: Shrink Your Goals
Instead of committing to an hour of exercise, try 15 minutes. You don’t have to feel like it to get started, and once you begin, you’ll probably keep going. And if not, hey, 15 minutes still counts!
Tip 2: Change Up Your Music or Podcast Sometimes all you need is a new beat or a good laugh. Put on your favorite playlist, an inspiring podcast, or even a comedy show to get your mind moving first. The body will usually follow.
Did you know Refire has a podcast? ;) I'm going to be switching it to be just one question answered per episode - so you get bit sized health and fitness info on the go! New episodes coming soon! Listen here
Tip 3: Partner Up with Someone on Your Level
Find a friend or partner who’s also maybe not feeling the ‘fit life’ but is up for a 10-minute walk, a quick stretch, or a coffee-and-walk combo. It’s easier to get going when you’ve got company (even reluctant company).
Tip 4: Try Movement You Actually Like
Forget about what’s trendy and do something you enjoy. It doesn’t have to be traditional “exercise.” Yard work, throwing a ball with your dog, or a quick dance session counts. Movement is movement!
Tip 5: Celebrate the Win Any movement is a win, so pat yourself on the back for showing up. You did something. You moved. Tomorrow, you can aim a little higher.
Motivation is overrated. Small, low-key action is what keeps the ball rolling. So, even when you don’t feel like it, do a little something. Your future self will thank you (and probably think you’re pretty awesome).
